What is it that turns a bottle of wine into a great bottle of wine? Inspiration derived from honing the talents of fertile soil, ideal climate and fruits of a superior vine. Mastery that can only come with time and experience. Taste derived from passionate winemaking, blended with a whole lot of soul. Founded in 1963, Nuy Winery was built on only one cornerstone: Quality. So close your eyes uncork a bottle of Nuy and breathe in that character that sets our wines apart. Each individual shows true commitment to producing only the finest wines. Years of winemaking experience, untapped natural resources, time and patience bring out the best in every bottle of Nuy wine. Nuy Winery is situated in the Nuy Valley at the foot of the Langeberg Mountains in the Western Cape. Average rainfall is low, but the Keerom Dam ensures a year-round water supply. This promotes slower growth of the grapes and results in healthy, flavourful fruit. The season that led up to the 2015 harvest had less rain than previous seasons which caused it to be very dry. For this reason farmers had to supply additional irrigation which in turn led to water supplies being under preassure. We immediately saw that 2015 was going to be a harvest to remember. The grapes were healthy and earlier physiologically ripe. The quality of the cultivars that was harvested earlier this year was phenominal. The red wine also has a deep red colour and is of high qaulity. Blackberry and undertones of pepper and cloves, lingering on the palate. We invite everyone to taste our three different wine ranges from easy drinking to the more serious and even maiden MCC and Brandy. Indulge in a laid-back day filled with scrumptious foods and the sounds of live music. Craft beers from Mountain Brewery will also be available for tasting and sales. Challenge your wine knowledge and skills with wine blending and bottle your own wine. Wagon and tractor rides will provide patrons safe travelling between the different venues.
